Mode Substance Misuse and Offender Caseworkers
We play a key role in bridging the gap between health and justice agencies.
The treatment of severely mentally ill offenders in the community has become an increasingly important and urgent issue because of the greatly increased number of persons with mental illness who have found themselves in the criminal justice system.
We support people who have found their way in to the criminal justice system, from arrest through to facing sentencing, who may have acquired all kinds of substance misuse problems and contributing difficulties, anxiety and panic attacks, anger management, depression mood swings, post-traumatic stress disorder.
The linking of antidepressants with violent behavior is extremely controversial, however, antidepressants have been evidenced to an increased risk of violent behavior, including physical assault and homicide.
